Located about 118 km southwest of Arusha, Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania’s most scenic and wildlife-rich destinations. Spanning over 2,850 square kilometers, it is famous for its vast elephant herds — sometimes reaching over 300 individuals — and its ancient baobab-studded landscapes.
During the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a lifeline, attracting large concentrations of wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and buffalo. The park also hosts an impressive variety of birdlife, with over 550 species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.
Less crowded than Serengeti or Ngorongoro, Tarangire offers a peaceful and intimate safari experience, ideal for travelers seeking both adventure and tranquility amid classic African landscapes.
